Choosing Who We Serve: The Heart Behind Our Partnerships

When Briar Creek Bath and Body Outreach was formed, one of the most important questions we asked was not simply how we would give, but who we felt called to serve. Our outreach is rooted in personal experience, family history, and a desire to respond to real, often unseen needs within our community. Each organization we support was chosen with intention, guided by compassion and an understanding that personal care, though often overlooked, can play a meaningful role in restoring dignity and comfort.

Supporting Our Veterans
Supporting veterans was one of the most natural and deeply personal decisions we made. Military service is woven through our family history. Our fathers served, as did our grandfathers and great-grandfathers before them. We also have uncles and cousins who served our country, including several who made military service a lifelong career. Because of these connections, we understand that the sacrifices of military service do not end when active duty does.
In our area, many veterans are homeless or under-supported, living on limited incomes. What funds they do have must often be directed toward higher-priority needs such as housing, food, and medications. In those circumstances, personal care items, while essential, can become difficult or impossible to afford. Through Briar Creek Bath and Body Outreach, we aim to ease that burden in a small but meaningful way by providing gentle, nourishing bath and body products. These items may seem simple, but they offer comfort, dignity, and a reminder that their service and sacrifices are remembered and valued.

Supporting Women in Shelters
We also felt strongly called to support women served through local shelters. Many women arrive at shelters with little to nothing, often only the clothes they are wearing. They may be fleeing unsafe situations, navigating trauma, and facing immense uncertainty about what comes next. In these moments, personal care items are not just practical necessities; they can be deeply personal.
A bar of soap, a bottle of lotion, or a small moment of self-care can provide a sense of normalcy and comfort during an otherwise overwhelming time. Our hope is that these products offer more than hygiene - they offer reassurance. A quiet reminder that someone cares, that dignity still matters, and that they deserve moments of gentleness even in the midst of hardship.

Supporting Seniors in Local Senior Living Communities
Another group close to our hearts is the elderly individuals served through local senior living communities. Many seniors find themselves transitioning into these facilities unexpectedly, often leaving behind homes filled with decades of memories, belongings, and personal comforts. The rooms they move into are frequently much smaller, requiring them to part with items that once defined their daily lives. In addition to these physical transitions, many residents receive very few visitors. Family members may live far away, be unable to visit often, or may no longer be present at all. This can leave seniors feeling disconnected, overlooked, or forgotten during a season of life when care and compassion are needed most.
Providing bath and body products in this setting is about more than convenience. It is about offering familiarity, comfort, and a sense of personal dignity. Something as simple as a thoughtfully made soap or lotion can become a small reminder of home, routine, and care -an acknowledgment that they are still seen, valued, and worthy of gentleness.
Every partnership supported by Briar Creek Bath and Body Outreach is chosen carefully and served through trusted local organizations. Our goal is not simply to distribute products, but to give with purpose, meeting people where they are and responding to real needs with respect and heart.
What began as a small goat farm and a handful of simple acts of kindness has grown into a mission centered on service, stewardship, and compassion. Whether supporting veterans, women in shelters, or seniors in our community, our purpose remains the same: to offer dignity, comfort, and care in meaningful ways.
This is how Briar Creek Bath and Body Outreach came to be, one thoughtful decision at a time, guided by the belief that even the smallest gestures can make a lasting difference.
Touching lives, one bar at a time.
